When, after all, does life begin?

From the point of view of the Spiritist Doctrine, life does not begin at birth, but even before conception. The Spirit goes through multiple physical existences on its journey of learning and improvement. Each reincarnation is a new chapter in this story, carefully planned on the spiritual planes.

The beginning of life

According to Allan Kardec, in The Spirits' Book (question 344), the union between the Spirit and the body begins at the moment of conception. This is when the Spirit destined for that experience is linked to the embryo by a fluidic bond, through the perispirit, the subtle body that acts as a bridge between the Spirit and matter.

“From the moment of conception, the spirit designated to inhabit a given body is bound to it by a fluidic bond that grows tighter and tighter until the moment of birth.”

During pregnancy, the Spirit maintains a certain spiritual freedom, especially in the first few months. As the fetus develops, the bond becomes more intense and definitive, culminating in birth - the moment when the soul fully inhabits the physical body and begins a new stage of evolution.

The four phases of the reincarnation process

According to Evelyn Freire de Carvalho, in “The Immortality of the Soul”, The reincarnation process can be understood in four fundamental phases, which demonstrate the greatness and precision of Divine Law:

1️⃣ Reincarnation planning - Under the guidance of Higher Spirits, the main milestones of the new existence are defined: the family you will be born into, the tests and challenges you will face, the missions you will fulfill and even professional or vocational tendencies.

2️⃣ Fluidic contact with the parents - Even before conception, the Spirit magnetically approaches the future parents, influencing their desire to give birth to the child and establishing vibratory bonds that will favor its arrival.

3️⃣ Linking the Spirit to Matter - The reincarnant's perispirit connects to the appropriate egg and sperm, ensuring that the physical body is formed in harmony with the reincarnation plan previously drawn up.

4️⃣ Fetus formation - From fertilization to birth, the Spirit gradually adapts to physical life, assimilating energies, impressions and experiences that will shape its personality and consciousness.

Reincarnation as an expression of divine love

Each birth, therefore, is much more than a biological phenomenon. It is a reunion of souls, a new opportunity granted for readjustment, progress and learning.

Reincarnation is the most sublime instrument of God's justice and love, as it allows each Spirit to make amends for past mistakes, advance morally and learn to love more purely.

Thus, life begins long before the first cry - it originates in the heart of God, who guides, inspires and sustains each soul on its journey of light.
