The Apostle of Human Renewal among us

April 2 is eternalized in our hearts, because it was on that date that Our Master Jesus appointed Chico Xavier to reincarnate again to continue his apostolate of light, giving his own life to humanity. This year, specifically on the 20th anniversary of the medium's return to his spiritual homeland, and still unfortunately marked by such painful events as the war, we feel the need to revive Chico's teachings in our lives more intensely.

We commemorate his rebirth on the physical plane and pay our respects to this Spirit of choice, one of the most lucid disciples of Christ, as Humberto de Campos called him when referring to the meeting in the spirit world that would decide Kardec's rebirth.

We remember that Chico's birth and the celebration of his 92 years of love and dedication to humanity are about our deep respect and recognition of his mission as Kardec-Chico. In the words of Marlene Nobre, in the book Chico Xavier - my pieces of the mirror, In the words of Allan Kardec-Chico Xavier, this Spirit (Kardec-Chico) has successfully completed his 200-year marathon to bring the message of Christ's promised comforter to Earth. She said: “Allan Kardec-Chico Xavier, one man, one mission”.

CHICO AND KARDEC

The years go by, and it will be up to history itself to recognize the legacy left by this Spirit. As Chico said when he was asked about Kardec's return: “Whatever work he is doing, or will do, it will speak eloquently in relation to his presence, in any way and in any place”. Looking at the extraordinary work of renewal that Chico has left us, we are certain that it speaks for itself. And we can only be grateful. We are grateful for his love dedicated to humanity.

To celebrate another April 2, while the tears dedicated to him are flowing, we recall here two short excerpts, the first from Hilário Silva's message, called “The return of Allan Kardec”, psychographed by Antônio Baduy Filho on October 31, 1997, already published in this newspaper in 1998. It describes the important meeting that would define Kardec's return to earthly life and Kardec's marvelous dialogue with a venerable representative of Jesus. The emissary of Christ said:

- You will be reborn in adverse conditions...
- I will obey the Lord's will," Kardec replied.
- You will start very young, among afflictions and difficulties, and you will work with sacrifice and renunciation for a long time...
- I will dedicate every minute to the field of Good...
- You won't have any academic qualifications...
- The only title I aspire to is that of faithful servant of Christ...
- You'll find mistrust and aggression...
- I will look to faith and humility for the strength to resist.
- You'll have pain as your constant companion...
- I'll know how to accept it with the support of on high...
- Companions won't understand you and will turn against you...
- I will do my duty and keep my conscience in peace.
- You won't be doing anything for yourself, you'll just be an instrument...
- I will thank God for the opportunity to serve.
- You won't enjoy the joys and coziness of a constituted home...
- Humanity will be my family.
- You will take on a thorny mission in the unfolding of the Spiritist Codification...
- I will be loyal to the doctrinal principles, aware that Spiritism is the Comforter promised by Jesus.
- The task will require you to be devoted and selfless...
- I will not hesitate to live the Gospel to the full and to Spiritist Doctrine.

How Chico Xavier, the codifier fulfilled everything he had promised Jesus' venerable representative. And to crown our tribute to the Apostle of Human Renewal, we've cut out an excerpt from a message from an unforgettable encounter, which is nothing more than Chico Xavier's description of his spiritual visit to Pedro Leopoldo and his home before his rebirth.

After describing the landscape he had seen, and the entrance to the home, he described Maria João de Deus, his mother, In an emotional way, he reveals: “A deep sympathy immediately connected me to that humble and quiet woman. It seemed to me that I was seeing again, in a different guise, a dear sister from whom I had been estranged for an indefinite period of time. Unable to explain the emotion that overwhelmed me, I fell into tears in which sorrow was mixed with joy, as I was once again meeting an affectionate and friendly creature. I remember that I couldn't help myself and I walked over to her, enveloping her in a big hug”.

With this moving scene, we give thanks for what followed, when the Spirit of Allan Kardec definitively united with the one who would be his earthly mother and, on April 2, 1910, the Apostle of Human Renewal returned to earthly life, in a humble home, but surrounded by love, to fulfill everything he had promised Christ.
Thank you, Kardec-Chico, for being with us once again and for loving us so much.
