Mother:
You who sing “Glory to the Lord” among the honors received on Mother’s Day!
You who bow before the Heavenly Father, seeing your domestic nest bathed in light through the affection and tenderness of your children…
You who give thanks for the blessing of motherhood in duties rightfully fulfilled…
You who recognize that “the harvest is greater than the sowing…”
Remember the less fortunate mothers!
Those who bear the bitter cup of their children’s ingratitude!
Those whose eyes burn with tears as they see their children behind prison bars!
Those tormented by hunger and cold, offering withered breasts where their little ones seek nourishment in vain!
Those who wander homeless, carrying their offspring in their arms!
Those confined to hospital beds!
Those prevented from even receiving a kiss from their children due to contagious diseases!
Those entangled in earthly illusions who neglected their maternal duties and now bitterly weep over their mistakes!
Those who mourn their dead children!
And those already on the other side of life, desperately struggling to aid children victimized by their neglect!
Mother:
Let us pray for all of them! Whether anonymous heroines or not, whether on the Earthly Plane or the Spiritual Plane – let us remember them all!
Let us beseech the Lord of Worlds to aid them, that they may rise from the chaos of suffering or misunderstanding on this glorious Mother’s Day!
Then, yes, let us sing hymns of Glory to the Lord for the blessing of serving and loving through our neighbors, seeing in every sibling along the path a child of the heart! For Jesus told us: “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
When we understand this Sublime Parable, we shall join hands – free from the overwhelming selfishness that divides humanity!
