“If an angel were to discuss philosophy with us, many of his propositions, I believe, would not seem like two plus two equals thirteen” (Litchemberg).
We continue by commenting on chapter VII of the book of J. K. Friedrich Zöllner, Scientific proof of survival, which deals with various examples of the so-called “Passage of Matter through Matter”. Zöllner describes, among some of his experiments with the medium Henry Slade, the one he carried out at 7 p.m. on May 9, 1878, with two wooden rings.
With the intention of excluding human testimony as much as possible in the unexplained phenomena he was obtaining, he tried to propose experiments that would leave lasting effects. He imagined two rings made of different woods, one made of oak and the other of walnut. Each of the rings was made from a piece of wood with an external diameter of 105 millimeters and an internal diameter of 74 millimeters, i.e. a thickness of 15.5 millimeters, which was quite thick and allowed a closed female hand to pass through it tightly.

Long-lasting effects
Zöllner comments: “If we were to insert these rings into each other without a solution of continuity (passing through each other without cutting), this fact would in itself constitute a miracle. A microscopic examination would verify the continuity of the fibers, and having chosen two different woods, one could not suppose that the rings had been cut from the same piece of wood. The phenomenon would be inexplicable by our current knowledge of physics and would therefore constitute a miracle. [...] From a piece of gut, I cut a strip without ends, 4 to 5 millimeters thick and forming a circle of 400 millimeters. My aim was to tie a single knot in this rope and a microscopic examination would reveal whether it had been cut.”.
He concludes with the surprising result when, on that day and time, at 7pm on May 9, 1878, he was alone with the medium Slade in his office. Zöllner describes: “The two wooden rings and the aforementioned strips were attached to a piece of catgut 1.05m (1 meter and 5 centimeters) long. The two ends of the catgut were tied together and then sealed just like the ropes.”.
Let's take a closer look at the original figures reproduced graphically, representing how the rings were previously hanging from the catgut tied together and sealed. And then, with great surprise, we found the two wooden rings, which minutes before had been attached to the catgut (had moved) circling around the foot of the small table (with no way of getting over or under) [comments are ours].
After these results, Zöllner made the following comments: “Very satisfied with the permanent results obtained, I called my friend Von Hoffmann and his wife into the office. Slade fell into one of his usual trances and informed me that the invisible beings around him were telling him that, according to my wishes, they were trying to tie the knots in the gut rope, but that they were forced to abandon their attempt because the rope was in danger of melting due to the high temperature and that we could verify this by examining a white dot on the rope.”.
oFourth dimension
Zöllner, immediately after the experiment, with the strip in hand, wanted to make sure. In fact, what the Spirits who accompanied the medium said and revealed to him, the effect of the white dot due to the high temperature, was verified by him, just as when he brought the flame of a candle closer, the excess temperature gave the same white dot. He notes that during the “passing matter through matter” session, in the experiment of passing the rings through the catgut and across the foot of the table, there was a smell of burning due to the increase in temperature when passing through the catgut. fourth dimension.
It is understandable that when bodies pass through the fourth dimension, magnetic fields are generated, raising their temperatures and emanating odors. These are intermolecular passages, of currents with magnetic characteristics, from the 3rd to the 4th dimension (certainly disappearing) returning to the 3rd dimension, after having crossed through the action of the Spirits.
Much more than, as Zöllner thought, the rings simply intertwined, as they were hanging, they went through the foot of the table and the strip of catgut, in other words, they dematerialized, moving through the fourth dimension, led by the will of the spiritual agents who used the energy (ectoplasm) of the physical effects medium.
The phenomenon is strong evidence of the existence of the PSI or Spirit World, of PSI or Spirit Agents and of a 4th dimension, from where they can act on our three-dimensional space.

Our Codifier, Allan Kardec, established a dialog with these spiritual agents and obtained from them important information about relationships and interventions in the corporeal world, presented in chapter IX, part two, “Intervention of the Spirits in the Corporeal World” of The Spirits' Book.
Let's continue studying at Spirit Sheet “the four-dimensional reality of PSI”.
