The importance of Jesus for the life and work of Chico Xavier is total. As a child, he received his first notions about the blessings of Christ and reverence for Our Lord Jesus from his mother, Dona Maria de São João de Deus. He learned from her to pray reverently and trustingly, giving his life into the hands of the One who was the light of the beginning.
During his childhood, when he was orphaned by the death of his mother and the mistreatment of his godmother, it was in Jesus that Chico Xavier found the strength to hope and overcome. In his youth, still professing the Roman Catholic faith, he used his youthful strength to catechize children, a task he took on at the parish church with his friend Father Sebastião Scarzelo.
After learning about Christian Spiritism at the age of 17, he gave his heart and soul to the task of mediumship with Jesus, making his life a commitment of love to the Truth, living a consoling apostolate never before seen or witnessed in human history.
Chico Xavier has filled us with the longing of 20 centuries for the presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Divine Friend of our evolutionary journey.
For the next 75 years of his fruitful existence, he knew how to exemplify the teachings of the Good News of Jesus like never before, becoming a bridge of light and enlightenment, comfort and blessings, through the messages he received from the crystalline sources of the Planes of Greater Life, which have been converted into almost 535 books of his exemplary mediumship.
Chico Xavier was not only a unique and unsurpassed mediumistic phenomenon, but above all an unparalleled human phenomenon, a true apostle of Jesus in the midst of the contemporary era, making us relive the steps of early Christianity, feeling Jesus once again in the hearts of the people.
Cause of Christ
Charity was his seal of adherence to the Cause of Christ, for which he will forever be remembered. Chico Xavier never stopped dedicating himself to the work of the most legitimate fraternity, making solidarity his own, without ever boasting about it, knowing how to show himself to be simple and humble at heart.
Chico had a unique gift, that of making himself as human as the rest of us who knew him and lived with him, putting us completely at ease in his loving and compassionate presence.
Chico Xavier has filled us with the longing of 20 centuries for the presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Divine Friend of our evolutionary journey.
Below I transcribe some excerpts from a message we received through psychography, from the Spirit of Veneranda, on the one-year anniversary of Chico Xavier's disincarnation.
Hosanna
Blessed are you, Francisco Cândido Xavier, because you harbored the humility of the Spirit and today the kingdom of heaven is yours too.
Blessed are you, for you wept in resignation and have now been consoled.
Blessed are you, for you have kept meekness, and so you have inherited the land of our grateful hearts.
Blessed are you, for you have hungered and thirsted for justice, and have been satisfied by the Eternal Judge.
Blessed are you, because you have shown mercy to the faults of others and divine mercy has reached you.
Blessed are you, for you have kept the vessel of your heart clean and have therefore seen God.
Blessed are you because you have been a peacemaker and because of that you are called a child of God.
Blessed, Francisco Xavier, were your eyes, because they saw the light; your ears, because they heard the word of God; your feet, because they walked the path of truth and life; your arms, because they worked tirelessly to spread the good news of Christ throughout the world; your hands, because they multiplied the blessings of the books of human regeneration, like the children of the stars in the firmament...
Blessed are you, Cândido Xavier, because you were the faithful, prudent and vigilant servant, and the cause of Jesus was not a stumbling block to your soul.
Blessed are you, for you were persecuted and reviled, and all kinds of evil were spoken against you for our Lord's sake, and yet you were not shaken in your faith.
Rejoice now and be glad, for great is your reward in the kingdom of heaven. And so it is because you knew how to be the least of Jesus' disciples; because you learned to be the servant of all the afflicted and burdened hearts who sought you out in God's name.
We were hungry and you fed us.
We were thirsty and you gave us something to drink.
We were cold and you dressed us.
We were homeless and you sheltered us.
We were sick and you came to visit us.
We were in prison and you came to see us.
But you are blessed a thousand times over, Brother Xavier, because you were taken up into heavenly glories when you left this world, but after a short and just time of rest, you chose to come down again in search of our hearts, your brothers and sisters in the rear.
For all this, dear friend, blessed are you for ever and ever!
We, the Spirits who bear witness to your works before God, our Father, before Jesus, our Lord, and to men of good will on the face of the Earth and beyond, repeat still, now and always: Blessed are you, Chico Xavier!
Dear and good soul, God keep you and bless you!
Gratitude[1]
