Mednesp 2025: the science of the Spirit and the spirit of science

The medical-spiritualist event, which takes place this month in the capital of São Paulo, reaches its 17th edition consolidated as a world reference in the integration of health, spirituality and science.

With an expected audience of 1,800 people, Mednesp 2025 will be held from June 6 to 8 in São Paulo, promoted by the Medical-Spiritist Association of Brazil (AME-Brasil). In its 17th edition, the event has established itself as the largest health and spirituality congress in the world, bringing together doctors, health professionals, researchers and the public interested in a broader and more integral approach to human care.

Under the theme “Serving to heal”, the congress proposes a deep reflection on the role of altruism, compassion and transcendence in the therapeutic process - both for those who care and for those who are cared for. For the organizers, the act of serving others is not only an ethical or spiritual value, but also a scientifically-based tool for personal and collective healing. “Mednesp is a gateway to science in spiritist houses and spirituality in doctors' offices” sums up Conrado Santos (photo), the event's communications coordinator. “It is a movement of mutual transformation, where scientific knowledge is combined with spiritual experience”.

An inevitable connection

Over more than three decades, Mednesp has helped to consolidate what is now accepted by a significant part of the international scientific community: spirituality has a positive impact on physical and mental health. The event sets itself apart by treating spirituality in its deepest dimension - including topics such as reincarnation, continuity of life and spiritual influence - with seriousness, grounding and academic rigor.

Mednesp is no ordinary congress. It's a space where we courageously discuss the Spiritist medical paradigm”, explains geriatrician Fábio Nasri (photo), from AME-São Paulo. “Today we have robust scientific evidence about the benefits of faith, prayer and spiritual connection. It's not just about belief, but hard data. Science is more open than ever”.

One of the highlights of the program is the participation of Giancarlo Lucchetti, the world's most published researcher on spirituality and health, and psychiatrist Alexander Moreira-Almeida, a reference in studies on life after death and author of the book The science of life after death.

Legacy and transformation

For Dr. Marcus Ribeiro (photo), also from AME-SP, Mednesp represents a watershed: “There is a Marcus before and after Mednesp. The experience changed me as a professional and as a human being. This is what the congress promotes: expansion of consciousness, exchange of knowledge and healing on various levels”.

The event's legacy goes beyond medicine. It mobilizes educators, therapists, religious people, students and ordinary people interested in a more human, integral and spiritualized approach to life. According to Conrado Santos, the audience is heterogeneous, but shares a common purpose: “Everyone wants a better world, better health and a meaningful life. And Mednesp offers that”.

A movement gaining momentum

The advance of spirituality in medical school curricula and in leading hospitals such as Albert Einstein, Sírio-Libanês and Beneficência Portuguesa is a direct result of the work of the AMEs and the strength of events such as Mednesp. “Today we have academic leagues, study centers, scientific publications. 15 years ago, this was unthinkable” says Nasri.

The message is clear: spirituality and science are not opposites, but complementary dimensions of knowledge and care. And Mednesp is the link that builds this bridge, based on evidence and purpose.

Launches and autograph sessions

Mednesp 2025 will host unmissable launches, with autograph sessions that bring authors and readers closer together. Check out the works that will be presented during the event.

The skin as an instrument for healing the soul: from emotions to skin lesions

Jane M. Modena Bassi (AME-Brasil Editora)

The book is the result of years of work and study. It is about the stories of patients who have suffered various losses: of loved ones, dreams of marriage, jobs and others. When these people became aware of how these strong emotions had made them ill, they decided to heal their souls.

Children and their spiritual uniqueness

Fernando Souza (ed.) (AME-Brasil Editora)

Based on André Luiz's literature, especially the collection Life in the spirit world, This book offers the reader the opportunity to learn and reflect, in the light of the Spiritist medical paradigm, on the life of the child on the extraphysical plane. It sensitively addresses their reincarnation process, their experience within the family and their experience in the physical world, highlighting the nuances of the trials and atonements that manifest themselves through illnesses of the body and mind. At the same time, it reveals the sublime experiences linked to the acquisition of the Spirit's ethical and moral values, under the loving tutelage of Higher Spirituality. It is a book that touches hearts deeply, exalting life as the greatest good, granted by God. It is a work that can, in some way, serve as a valuable source for Spiritist doctrinal studies, leaving indelible impressions on the paths of learning and research.

Homeopathy - medicine of the Spirit

Fernando Lopes Figueiredo (org.) (AME-Brasil Editora)

This book proposes a thought-provoking dialog between homeopathic science and the Spiritist Doctrine, the latter announced through mediumship as its auxiliary. With an integrative approach, the book offers enriching reading for health professionals, Spiritist scholars and all those who wish to understand the human being as a whole. Starting from the pillars of Homeopathy - vitalism, ultradilutions and the theory of miasmas - the authors establish connections with the Spiritist concepts of perispirit, vital fluid, spiritual obsession and magnetism, showing how both aspects share an energetic and subtle view of the process of becoming ill. In accessible language, without losing scientific rigor, the book demonstrates that true therapy must transcend the limits of the physical body, reaching the deepest dimensions of the being. It also rescues Hahnemann's life legacy, revisits the foundations of homeopathic philosophy and points to the future: spirituality as an essential element in health promotion.

Mediumistic practice in pregnancy: an empirical study

Paulo Batistuta Novaes (AME-Brasil Editora)

Thousands of women practice mediumship in Spiritist centers and temples of various religious denominations. Practicing mediumship during pregnancy attracts the attention of pregnant women, their partners, Spiritist leaders and sometimes health professionals. This is a delicate issue, especially with regard to fetal safety. The aim of this book is to clarify the role of the pregnant medium, the fetus, the communicating Spirit and the spirit guides in the mediumistic process, as well as to investigate the aspects surrounding their safety. Based on empirical research that integrates mediumship experience and medical knowledge, the book presents results that invite reflection, given the complexity and breadth of the topics covered. It thus constitutes a relevant reference for all those who work with mediumship, especially in disobsession work, offering valuable subsidies for a more conscious and safe practice.

If you don't heal from what hurt you, you'll bleed all over those who didn't hurt you

Andrei Moreira (Editora Intervidas)

In this book, the author draws on his extensive experience and multidisciplinary knowledge to show that we all carry unhealed childhood wounds, traumas and psychological defense mechanisms that have shaped our personality and still influence our affective patterns in adult life, often generating conflicts and unhappiness. Faced with this scenario, the solution is presented: it is necessary to bring to consciousness what was previously unconscious and which, precisely for this reason, dominated and governed us. More than that, it is essential to assume the autonomy of adult life through committed, loving and compassionate self-care.

Life with Alzheimer's Disease: a dignified and humanized journey

Carlos Eduardo Accioly Durgante (Fergs Editora)

This book addresses the initial consequences of the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease on the personal lives of patients and their families, the fundamental role of medical professionals in providing support and humanized care, as well as their attitude towards the growing demands of technology. It highlights some of the common issues faced by family members and caregivers on a daily basis, providing useful and practical guidance on how to deal with the countless distressing situations that arise during the life of those involved in this reunion of souls. Finally, the book reflects on the urgent and necessary loving gaze that transcends the sick body and glimpses the opportunities that the Spirit is being offered for its real healing.

Animals in the evolutionary school according to the works of André Luiz

Irvênia L. S. Prada (FE Editora)

There is clear evidence in spiritist literature that animals, like us, are evolving spiritual beings - endowed with thought and subject to the reincarnation process. Science, in turn, recognizes that they are sentient beings, in other words, capable of feeling, understanding and learning. They possess attributes such as sensitivity, intelligence, consciousness, will, memory and the capacity to learn, experiencing the lessons of the school of life in their own way. As our younger siblings on the evolutionary journey, they deserve our attention, our care and, above all, respect for their capacity to suffer physically and emotionally, as well as their natural right to live.

Chapters of life: reflections of an amateur philosopher

 Décio Iandoli Jr. (FE Editora)

What makes life such a great story? Have you ever stopped to think about the chapters of your own existence, the succession of events, challenges and learnings that shape who you are? In Chapters of life: reflections of an amateur philosopher, the doctor and thinker Décio Iandoli Jr. invites us on a unique journey, full of questioning and insights on the human experience. With the precision of a surgeon and the sensitivity of a philosopher, he leads us to reflect on essential themes such as happiness, purpose, will, love, mourning and even death, always with a practical and accessible eye. The great thing about this book is the way it communicates with the reader. The chapters are short but profound, and the stories and metaphors allow us to see life from a new perspective. Above all, there is an irresistible invitation to think, question and transform. Unlike self-help books that promise magical solutions, Chapters of life: reflections of an amateur philosopher does not offer ready-made answers. Instead, it proposes intelligent provocations that help the reader find their own answers.

The seven gates of the soul: the role of the chakras in achieving holistic care

Domingos Vaz do Cabo (FE Editora)

How do you correlate your knowledge of the chakras, as a Spiritist doctor trained within a deterministic view, with the Eastern spiritualist paradigm, with its trans-dimensional perspective? Based on studies of systemic theory and complexity, the author has developed an understanding that reconciles physiology and philosophy, theory and practice, using simple and accessible language, the result of which culminates in this book. The book aims to clarify the role of the seven main chakras in health and the soul, bringing practical cases that illustrate how attentive listening to the body's signals can lead us to the recovery of our essence as integral beings.
