Dear families,
Dear children,
As Christmas approaches, we feel our hearts fill with joy and hope. More than that, we feel the gentle call of Christ to remember that this date is much more than lights, presents and parties. Christmas, in the Spiritist vision, is a time to renew love, to remember the arrival of the One who taught us to live with kindness, simplicity and joy.
Allan Kardec reminds us in The Gospel according to Spiritism, This is what we want to strengthen in every home: a Christmas that is born first within us, illuminating attitudes, words and gestures. This is what we want to strengthen in every home: a Christmas that is born first within us, illuminating attitudes, words and gestures. That's why we invite our parents and children to experience Christ's Christmas together, which is a different Christmas, quieter, truer, full of affection and care. A Christmas that doesn't depend on big things, but on small acts of love.
For the children, we want to remember:
- Jesus was born tiny, taught by the love of a simple family;
- he showed us that being kind is more important than having lots of things;
- At Christmas, the best present is what you do with your heart: help, hug, share, forgive and give thanks.
The Spirit André Luiz, in the book Green light, In the book “Kindness is a light that we turn on for others and that illuminates our own path”, he tells us. Every child can light this light every day, at home, at school, in the street and everywhere.
To parents, we leave a loving invitation: true Christmas is learned by example. Emmanuel, in the book Our Bread, He reminds us that “to educate is to radiate one's own soul”. When children see prayer, respect, patience, gratitude and charity at home, they understand the Gospel in a living way, and not just with their minds, but with their hearts. That's why we suggest simple attitudes that transform the home:
- a prayer gathering the whole family together at the end of the day;
- a conversation about what each person is grateful for that day;
- a small gesture of help to those in need;
- a story about Jesus read before bed;
- an attitude of reconciliation: apologizing, forgiving, starting over.
These small practices slowly build a harmonious and safe spiritual environment, where our children grow up with confidence, joy and faith.
“Christ's Christmas is silent, truer, full of affection and care. It doesn't depend on big things, but on small acts of love.”
We remember the needy children
Christ never forgot the little ones. And Spiritism teaches us that caring for children in need is an essential part of living the Gospel. Some spiritual benefactors remind us of this with profound tenderness:
- Meimei, in Our Father, He says: “When we reach out to a child in need, it is Jesus himself who receives our help”.
- Neio Lúcio, in Jesus at Home, reminds us that: “Charity begins where our comfort stops”. This includes sharing toys, clothes, food and time with those who have less.
- Emmanuel, in The Comforter, He says: “Every child is the responsibility of all of us. Wherever there is a child suffering, there is a task for the Christian”.
- Bezerra de Menezes, in messages of Christian fraternity, reinforces: “Help for children is the highest expression of love for Christ, who made children's simplicity the door to the Kingdom.”.
We therefore invite every family to include a gesture of love for a child in need in their Christmas: a toy that is no longer used, a packet of cookies, a children's book, a hug, a visit or even a simple prayer. Children can take part in this chain of good, and they do so with spontaneous joy when invited.
Child and Youth Evangelization plays a precious role in the spiritual formation of children. Each Evangelization meeting is like a seed of light planted in the hearts of the little ones. The benefactor Emmanuel, in Book of hope, He wisely reminds us that “there is no childhood without a mission”. This means that every child carries within them an inner world full of possibilities, and Evangelization helps to awaken this world with love, encouragement, care and spirituality.
To parents, we leave a loving encouragement: walk with us. Participate, be present, talk to your children about what you have learned and bring these experiences into the home. We evangelizers are the spiritual partners of each family in this sacred task of educating from the heart.
And to the children, we say with all our affection: you are the joy of Christ. Every smile, every gesture of kindness and every attitude of love that you practise is like a little star that lights up in the sky of our hearts.
May this Christmas be a time of peace, unity and rebirth for every family. May Jesus find space in our homes and in our attitudes. And may we continue together, parents, evangelizers and children, building a path of light for the coming new year.
